September Trustee Update

Written by: Ariana Lee, International Trustee

Hello Georgia District!

As the first month as your assigned International Trustee passes, I have numerous updates from the international level that will aid you throughout your service year. As a member of three international committees, my updates will be structured according to their individual updates.

Programs and Partners: Within the Programs and Partners committee, each trustee member has been assigned a specific partner to work with—to be the main liaison between said organization and Key Club International (KCI). My assigned partner is Erika’s Lighthouse, a mental health organization that emphasizes the need to prioritize and destigmatize conversations surrounding mental health. As an affiliate club, there are numerous service projects and initiatives your club can participate in. For more information on how your club and division can become involved with Erika’s Lighthouse, click here.

Additionally, Erika’s Lighthouses’ Give Voice Week is quickly approaching—a week dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and offering resources to the youth. Give Voice Week is September 9-14 and is a wonderful opportunity to begin your club’s partnership with Erika’s Lighthouse! For more information on the week’s activities and how to become involved, click here

As an overall committee, we are currently focusing on Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) Grant applications and promoting clubs to take advantage of this opportunity. The YOF Grant is only given to clubs in good standings, and recipients can receive anywhere from $250 to $2,000 in monetary support for a new or current service project or event. To apply for the grant and learn more information, click here. If you want an in-depth breakdown of the application process and gain insights into application tips, attend one of KCI’s webinars held on September 17th and 26th at 8:00 PM E.S.T.

More information about the webinar, including the registration link, will be given soon.

Global Relations: Global Relations has been working tirelessly to ensure that our organization is aiding the international community that we serve.

The Global Engagement Rally (GER) is coming soon! GER is an amazing opportunity for clubs to be exposed to the Key Club communities that exist outside of their respective area. This year, GER will focus on the advocacy and changes that the youth can make in their communities—we will have speakers from around the world and workshops that dive into a wide array of topics. If interested, look out for more information soon!

Communications: Global Relations, chaired by the Georgia District’s very own Armin Sedghi, is focused on developing the promotional materials handed down from each committee.  Furthermore, we have been working to promote the Homecoming initiative, in which resources are provided to encourage membership recruitment this club-rush season. For more information, click here.

The I-Board will be having office hours every second Sunday of the month, beginning this Sunday, September 8, at 7:30 p.m. If interested, please attend utilizing the link here. During office hours, I can answer any questions you may have or simply be there to talk.

Meeting ID: 215 772 829 106

Passcode: RiViKo

Additionally, I have created a form in which clubs can submit any grievances or questions they have about the international level. The form is linked here.

Thank you for such a wonderful first month. I am excited to see where this year takes us! As  always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
