Planning for the Year

As a Key Club Officer or Advisor, it’s important to plan out the upcoming year.

Below is a checklist before summer starts to ensure you have the best year possible!

  • Hold a club officer retreat during the summer to plan out the upcoming year
    • Find a place that you can spread out and really get to planning
    • Schedule a “fun break” like bowling or swimming to make it more entertaining
    • Make sure you create a calendar for the upcoming year, including service projects, socials, banquets, fundraisers, etc
    • Download the “Conference in a Can” resource to see how to effectively plan a retreat
  • Review Key Club Contests & Awards to get a head start for the 2016-2017 year
    • Prior year contest forms are a great resource to use when planning out your year
    • Chances are, your club is already doing a lot of things that would qualify for recognition
    • Make sure your upcoming seniors are aware that scholarships are available just for Key Club members in the Georgia District
  • Start promoting the Georgia Leadership Training Conference August 27 at Six Flags
    • This event will be close to the beginning of school, so make sure your members are aware
    • The cost to attend is only $41 per person, which includes the training conference, admission to Six Flags, lunch and parking
    • Registration will open in mid-July
  • Make a plan for fundraising to attend the 2017 Key Club District Convention February 24-26, 2017
    • District Convention is the biggest event during the year
    • The 2017 Convention will be at the Sea Palms Resort on St. Simons Island, Ga.
    • The cost to attend is $250 per member – so start fundraising now to make paying easier
    • Club officers from the 2016-2017 & 2017-2018 year should plan to attend
    • Convention is a LOT of fun!
  • Plan how your club will raise at least $3.75 per member for the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes
    • Have you heard about #My375?
    • Key Club is working to raise funds to build a Learning Center at the Mountainview Campus
    • The goal for the 2016-2017 year is $27,000!
  • Determine how your club can save lives by raising money for The Eliminate Project
    • It’s never too early to start making plans for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF
    • Just $1.80 saves a mother and her future babies from this deadly disease
    • Get creative with fundraising – you can have a HUGE impact and have a lot of fun in the process!
    • Each club is encouraged to raise at least $250 for the Eliminate Project!
