Happy Thanksgiving, Key Clubbers!

By Minyoung Kim, District Governor

There are so many things I’m thankful for – the roof over my head, the endless support and love from my parents, the unconditional affection from dogs (although I get really bad allergic reactions from them), and, of course, the delicious burrito bowl from Chipotle.

But this Thanksgiving, I want to focus on something that has shaped me to become who I am today and the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my life – which is, of course, joining Key Club.

Just like every other Key Clubber, Key Club has truly been a game changer in my life. I can’t say that my Key Club story is unique – the story about Key Club changing that “shy, awkward little girl to a confident leader” – but the impact it has made in my life is significant. So here’s a list of “Thank you’s” from me to Key Club:

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the Georgia District – Over the past years, the Georgia District Key Clubbers have raised a million dollars for the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes and it’s incredible what this district can accomplish. I’m so lucky to be able to serve this mighty district.

Thank you for my amazing district board – you all are the best. The sacrifice you make to serve the Georgia District is immense, and I’m so proud to serve you as the District Governor.

Thank you for the friends whom I’ve met through various conventions – I don’t get to see them as much as I want to, but the friends I’ve met through Key Club are some of the greatest people I’ve ever met.

Thank you for helping me overcome my fear of public speaking and forcing me to get out of my bubble to talk to strangers.

Thank you for giving me the chance to be a part of the amazing Eliminate Project – to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus from the world.

Thank you for the Key Club pins from all over North America and for filling my top drawer with dozens of Key Club shirts – I will never run out of T-shirts to wear.

Thank you to my Canadian friends, Jamaican friends, and now a new friend from Taiwan!

And lastly, thank you, Key Club, for teaching me how to serve others joyfully with a genuine heart.

So Key Clubbers – give thanks, serve others, and let’s show the world who we are.
