(11.15.18) Governor’s Address
Governor’s Address | November 15, 2018
By Christina Lee, District Governor
Hello everyone! As the winter season approaches, I have taken a step back to reflect upon our accomplishments as a district this year. I feel an immense amount of gratitude for the people I have met and the lessons I have learned. Key Club has provided me with numerous unparalleled opportunities to grow as an individual. I faced obstacles that seemed insurmountable at first. With time, however, I have learned to trust the process and to approach various situations with an open-mind. I encourage you all to continue your Key Club journey throughout high school; this organization will tremendously widen your perspective and positively impact your high school experience.
As Thanksgiving approaches, take a moment to recognize the people and the experiences that have shaped you to become who you are today. We often rush through life – checking off to-do lists one after another – that we often forget to take a moment to pause. I believe it is extremely important to prioritize the people who have supported you through your successes and your failures – show them your appreciation this season. Your support does not have to manifest only in tangible forms. A simple appreciation text or a letter can make a meaningful impact to someone whose tireless efforts may sometimes go unnoticed.
To the high school students – in the midst of midterms, interviews, and college applications, remember that having a strong support system can go a long way. Surround yourself with a genuine group of people who want the best for you (aka Key Clubbers). Also keep in mind that in a couple of months, your hard work will pay off. Don’t forget to treat yourself to some holiday treats and festivities this month! Don’t let your work overcome your mental and physical well-being. I hope the best for each and every one of you. Let’s finish out this Key Club year strong!
